From Arena to Alpingarten: The Annual Oktoberfest Harvest Party at Quailhurst

The indoor arena transformed

What do you get when a vineyard and horse farm are owned by a beer lover? An Oktoberfest harvest party in a dressage arena transformed into a Bavarian beer hall, of course!

On September 29, Deborah and Marvin hosted several hundred of Quailhurst’s wine club members for their members-only annual harvest party. The entire Quailhurst team spent weeks setting up the indoor riding arena for the event.  The footing was rolled and scattered with shavings, a stage and dance floor placed at “C”, food tent at “A,” Bavarian blue checked tables running the length of the arena, and a tasting area at “R.” (Marvin poured wine tastings while Deborah – or Heidi, as she is known during Oktoberfest -manned the taps.)

The replica Bavarian village, given to the farm by the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest, is the centerpiece of the transformation – and stays up into the winter so the horses can enjoy the village too. A special thank you goes out to The Original Bavarian Sausage Co., Widmer Brothers Brewing, Steve Doris- Caricature Artist, the Still Kickin’ Bavarian band, A Better T-Shirt Co. in Tualatin, Oregon, and Debbie Grassman Drindls.   A wonderful time was had by all! (See our video montage of the event here!)
